Some minor jobs carried out on 401 today...this photo shows the taper plug valve from the water tanks balance pipe in desperate need of a clean up |
The tapered plug was cleaned up on the wire wheel before being lapped in with polish and loosely rebuilt in the balance pipe |
Boiler fittings faces were also wire brushed today to get rid of rust and any remaining graphite...this one being the LHS backhead injector |
Manifold |
Gauge frame |
After being cleaned up with a wire brush they were dusted off and given a thin protective coating of steam oil |
Same on the others...the washout plug holes have also had the same treatment by running a tap through them to clean up the threads |
