Michael undercoating 401s lubricator |
As stated in a post last month part of the reason for removing 401s cab and tank was to carry out repairs to broken boiler crinoline, the other reason was to investigate a potential leak. This turned out to be several firebox crown stays which had been leaking. Today, boilersmith Adam from Northern Steam Engineering Ltd carried out caulking work |

After caulking the crown stays and a couple inside the firebox the boiler was hydraulic tested up to 180psi, all dry |
New boiler lagging (insulation) also arrived this afternoon |
Finishing off the day with applying a second coat of undercoat to the lubricator and its brackets |
