Whistle board installation and other work down the line

Volunteers Michael and Steve have been down the line today to install the newly constructed whistle boards at the Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate foot crossing, in this photo Michael is removing stone/ballast after digging the hole with the auger

The post was placed in the hole and then filled with water and postcrete. Here, Steve holding the post in place whilst waiting for the postcrete to set

Further down the line, the second whistle board is successfully installed

Down at Percy Main, work begins on digging out the 5mph board at the end of Percy Main platform...

...so it can be replaced with a 15mph board

The 5mph board which was dug out at Percy Main platform was then installed at the south end of Percy Main curve

On the way back up to Middle Engine Lane volunteers took the opportunity to give the other speed limits boards a fresh coat of paint
