| Closer view of No.1's vertical slide type regulator valve. Shown in the video below, as the regulator handle is opened the smaller ports are opened through links on the regulator rod, this allows steam from the dome into the main steam pipes and through into the cylinders, the smaller ports are known as first valve or pilot valve. When the handle gets to roughly half way open the first valve slides start to push open the second valve, which is the bigger ports |
