After successfully removing the bearing, the cap was placed back on with the nuts wound up hand tight so fitters could continue on the other side |
The pedestrian truck is used to lift the LHS side rod slightly, this relieves any pressure on the ball bearings whilst the knuckle joint is disconnected |
Michael removes the nut in the knuckle joint, separating the two side rods |
The smaller side of the side rod is slowly lowered down |
The bigger end slides off the trunion |
LHS side rod successfully removed |
Work carries on over on the RHS with the knuckle joint being dismantled |
Same process again, the smaller end is lowered to the ground first, keeping the larger end on the trunion |
The expansion link is disconnected from the return crank rod on the LHS |
