Work has commenced on the Charles Roberts tank. Firstly, the bent buffer has been removed for straightening...

All the axle boxes have been opened (after much force!), journals checked (and okay) and pads deemed to be fit for further use.

Delamination has also been completed on the springs.

Volunteers were busy down at Percy Main today carrying out ballasting work in the headshunt, vegetation clearance and fencing repairs

South Gosforth TMD

Tomorrow is the final day in service for the old South Gosforth Car sheds, opened in 1923 to house the North Tyneside Electrics. Tyne and Wear Metro will close the shed tomorrow to open the new depot on the site. Here are some photos of the sheds from the archive.
