Wheelsets on the move

Ashington No.5s wheelsets have been moved from the main workshop into the woodshop this evening. This is to allow a hiab to be able to access them through the shutter door on Tuesday when they will be picked up and sent away for tyre turning

03 air pipes

Michael and Carl have been busy fabricating some new makeshift air pipes for 03078, Michael here is trial fitting one of them



After successful trial fitting, the pipes came off to receive a new coat of paint

401 in service, Heritage Open Day

Today was Heritage Open Day, with free train rides on we have welcomed over 900 passengers and put on 2 extra trains

08915 and 03078 shunting. here 08915 has brought the salmon and lowmac wagons up the yard, 03078 picks them up at the other end and takes them back down to release 08915

Carl and Joe have carried out more axlebox/journal inspections on various wagons in readiness for their use at the Diesel Gala

Axlebox inspection

Carl (L) and Steve (R) removing the axlebox covers off the SLO carriage this afternoon to inspect the condition of the journals and underkeep pads and give them a fresh dose of oil

New batteries

New batteries have arrived for our MK1 coaching stock, which will be installed soon

New lathe set up

Our new Smart & Brown lathe that was recently donated to us has now been set up at the top end of the workshop
