No.401 Update

 Below are photos of long-serving volunteer Keith McNally carefully lining out 401s wheelsets. The boiler, which is still currently at the North Norfolk Railway, has now passed both it's hydraulic and steam tests and should be returning to the NTSR in early 2018

Work on ACC5

In between aiding the contractors to install boiler tubes, preparations are being made for the locomotive's boiler to undergo its hydraulic test, here Michael can be seen guiding the dome cover into place prior to fitting. More news to follow shortly

A diagram of 401s rear axlebox which has been dug out as the axlebox liners and horn guides need to be checked for signs of wear and to also ensure they are within the correct tolerance

New Carriage Battery Charger

With our Santa Specials fast approaching, new carriage battery charging gear has been installed in the workshop so the carriage lighting can be used during the late afternoon trains operating in December

Steam Heating Installation

George and other George have started the designs for the installation of steam heating to A.No.5 this afternoon, this involves borrowing a steam heating pipe and fittings from RSH No.1, gauge and cab controls

Cut out of the where the steam heating apparatus will be temporarily installed, A.No.5 is booked to run the first weekend of Santa Specials whilst Ashington No.5 is still receiving attention in the workshop
